Meet the Author

Bradley Gabbert began his career working with young children as a preschool teacher, immersed in the early language of behavior, approval, and emotional control. He later trained as an industrial engineer, learning to design and manage complex systems, before turning to acting as a professional performer and SAG-AFTRA member. Eventually, he returned to engineering—bringing with him a deeper understanding of performance, identity, and silence.

In The Agreeable Child, he reflects on how each chapter of his working life mirrored an internal one: teaching care, engineering control, performing compliance. Yoga and breathwork later revealed what none of those roles could resolve—the body’s quiet memory of what was endured and what remained unspoken.

This memoir traces the slow, deliberate process of learning how to be present without performing, fixing, or pleasing. Bradley lives with his wife, Kelli, and continues to practice yoga, write, and listen for what emerges when the role finally loosens.
